A Midnight Dream

Chapter One: Toxic Quantities
I wish to preface that this was merely a dream... the real thing would simply be toxic in large quantities.

It was after a couple of rounds of drinks that we decided to call it a night. Beyond the fact that it was late, we were blurring the legal lines to drive. We walked outside into the cool spring air, which sent goosebumps across our skin as the warmth of the wine began to fade. I quickly pulled you into my arms, wanting to hold you for as long as possible. I immediately felt you melt into my embrace, your warmth pressing tightly against mine.

I kissed your head lightly until you leaned back to look into my eyes, only for your lips to find mine. We held each other tightly as our lips explored one another. Not wanting to break contact, I did the next best thing and trailed my lips down to your neck.

From your jawline to your clavicle, you felt my lips tracing your skin with a lingering, breathless heat. I inhaled deeply, consuming the sweet, rose-like scent that rolled off you. I reluctantly pulled back, noticing the way your neck arched backward—a silent invitation to what I had already claimed.

I kissed you once more to recenter us, holding you close. I stared into your eyes for what felt like a millennium, though it was only a few seconds. We exchanged mischievous smiles, silently deciding if the night was truly over...
